If they are on the Soul Train Awards this year, I will definitely be watching.
SoulTrain, commonly known as a staple for R&B and soul music, has decided that Big Bang’s Fantastic Baby and Psy’s Gangnam Style are at the top of their list for the dance tracks of 2012. What is even more surprising is that both Gangnam Style and Fantastic Baby were crowned as number one in a tie, beating out well-known American artists such as Ne-Yo (Let Me Love You), Usher (Scream), and Chris Brown (Don’t Wake Me Up). This award is definitely nothing to sneeze at; remember, Soul Train is mostly known for paving the way for R&B and Soul artists- predominantly African American acts- to become noticed by mainstream culture. The greatest thing to come out of this accomplishment is the fact that K-Pop is becoming recognized by so many different audiences. 2012 was probably the greatest year for K-Pop on a global stage, and hopefully 2013 will bring even more success for Psy and Big Bang, as well as the rest of the K-Pop community.
