Do you want a man who wears makeup better than you?
A study by the Korean FDA found that 9.2 percent of Korean men used eyeliner or other types of makeup.
BB cream, or tinted beauty balm, was the most commonly used cosmetics product among men with 97.8 percent of makeup-using men opting for BB cream. 35.6 percent of the others used products were powder, 33.3 percent used makeup primers and 31.1 percent used foundation. Recently, companies have begun selling customized products that take into account a man’s lifestyle or skin type.
Some 26.7 percent and 20 percent said they even wear eyeliner and mascara at times. In addition, the male cosmetic market in Korea is growing by 10% annually on average, over the last five years. It is larger than the world male average of 3% annual growth.
South Korean men spent more money on beauty products than any other male population in the world. South Korean men spent $495.5 million on skincare last year, accounting for nearly 21 percent of global sales in 2012. That makes it the largest market for men’s skincare in the world, even though there are only about 19 million men in South Korea, followed by China, Japan and United States.
